Best Beaches in Andaman: Radhanagar, Elephant and More

Every Andaman beach has its own character. Some are best for sunsets, some for snorkelling and some for solitude. Here is a quick guide to help you choose.

Havelock

• Radhanagar Beach. Long, white and fringed by forest. Best for the sunset and a long swim when the sea is calm.
• Elephant Beach. Known for coral and snorkelling, reached by boat or a forest trek.
• Kalapathar Beach. Dark rocks and a quiet atmosphere. A good choice for sunrise.

Neil Island

• Bharatpur Beach. Shallow, gentle water, good for families and a first swim.
• Laxmanpur Beach. A scenic sunset spot with a long walk along the sand.
• Sitapur Beach. Peaceful, popular for sunrise.

• Corbyn's Cove. The nearest beach to town, good for an easy evening.
• Wandoor. Large beach and the entry point for the marine national park.
• Chidiyatapu. Famous for sunsets and birdwatching.

Beach tips

1. Swim only in marked, safe areas, and pay attention to warning flags.
2. Check tides. Some beaches change a lot between high and low tide.
3. Never remove shells, corals or sand. It is illegal.
4. Carry water, sunscreen and a hat. Shade can be limited.
5. Leave no waste behind.
