Rangat and Diglipur Guide: A 2-Day Middle and North Trip

Most tourists stay in the south, but Middle and North Andaman offer quiet beaches, mangroves and a very different pace. Rangat and Diglipur can be seen on a short two-day, one-night trip from Port Blair.

Rangat (Middle Andaman)

Rangat lies beyond Baratang along the Andaman Trunk Road. Highlights include the Dhani Nallah mangrove walkway, quiet beaches such as Amkunj and Morrice Dera, and calm creeks. Diglipur (North Andaman)

Diglipur is much farther north, so the journey takes most of a day. Its highlights are Ross and Smith Island, twin islands joined by a sandbar, and beaches such as Kalipur, which sees turtle nesting in the winter months. Is a 2-day trip enough?

It gives a taste, but travel takes much of the time. These tours are fast-paced. For a relaxed experience, add them to a longer Andaman trip. Andaman and Rangat combines the south with Rangat in seven nights.

1. Roads and ferries can be affected by weather, so allow buffer time.
2. Facilities are simpler than in Havelock. Carry cash and basic supplies.
