Port Blair to Havelock Ferry: Timings, Tickets and Tips

Most Andaman trips include the ferry from Port Blair to Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep). It is a pleasant sea crossing, and with a little planning it is easy to manage.
Ferry options
There are two broad types of service:
- Government ferries. Lower fares, simpler seating, and sometimes fewer departures.
- Private cruise ferries. Air-conditioned seating, faster crossings and more comfort, at a higher fare.
Both go from Port Blair harbour to Havelock's jetty. Crossing time is usually between one and a half and two and a half hours depending on the vessel and sea conditions.
How to book
Tickets are sold online and through authorised agents. Seats fill quickly in December and January, and the popular morning departures sell out first. If you book a package with us, we handle the tickets, which is helpful when you are travelling in a group. Ferry costs are already included in your builder price.
Everyone pays the adult fare
Infants under two travel free. Others are charged the adult fare, so group costs go up with every traveller you add.

What to carry
- A valid photo ID for every traveller, and your ticket confirmation.
- A light jacket for the air-conditioned cabin.
- Seasickness tablets if you are prone, especially in the monsoon.
- Small bags only. Large luggage is handled separately at the jetty.
Tips for a smooth crossing
- Reach the jetty at least 45 minutes before departure.
- Take the morning ferry so you reach Havelock with the whole afternoon free for Radhanagar Beach.
- Never schedule a ferry on the same day as a flight. Come back to Port Blair the day before.
- In the monsoon, expect cancellations and keep a buffer day. See the best time to visit.
