South Andaman Day Trips: Chidiyatapu, Wandoor & Mount Harriet

Most visitors see Cellular Jail and leave Port Blair for Havelock. If you have an extra day or two, South Andaman rewards you with quiet beaches, forest viewpoints and sunsets. These are the day trips our guests ask about most, with notes on how long to give each one.

Chidiyatapu: sunset and birdsong

Chidiyatapu sits at the southern tip of South Andaman, about an hour from Port Blair by road. Go in the late afternoon for the sunset and the drive through forest. The beach and the biological park are quiet places for photos and a slow walk. Read more in the Port Blair guide.

Wandoor and Jolly Buoy

Wandoor is the gateway to the marine national park. Boats run from the jetty to the reef islands, where you can snorkel or join glass-bottom tours. Rules and permits apply to the marine park and some islands, and trips depend on weather, so plan these on a clear day and ask our team to confirm. Jet ski rides are usually available near Wandoor too.

Corbyn's Cove

A city beach close to the airport with a long shoreline, coconut palms and snack stalls. It is an easy first-evening stop after you land, or a calm sunset spot before you fly out.

Mount Harriet

A forest viewpoint across the bay. The drive and short walk suit most fitness levels, and the views look best in the morning. Our guided jungle trek option is built around this area. Carry water, closed shoes and a hat.

Museums and shopping

Rainy day? The Samudrika Naval Marine Museum, the Anthropological Museum and the Fisheries Museum give you indoor options, and Aberdeen Bazaar is the place for souvenirs. These fit nicely into a short slot before a ferry or flight.
